Product Description

This unique product is a "switchblade" style remote + key combo unit. It performs two functions: It works as a key AND a keyless entry remote. With the press of the silver button, the hidden keyblade is spring-released, automatically locking into the useful position. Press the button again so you can press the blade back into it's hidden position. This device is made of high-quality, high-impact ABS plastic and chrome steel components. It also has a high-quality feel. Depending on your vehicle you may need to have one or both devices, the key and the remote, programmed to your specific vehicle.

4Switchblade key option for Honda
By karmutzen
Key fob is a little bigger than the VW ones I'm used to. Seller's price and shipping were reasonable. Programmed the door lock buttons myself following the included instructions. Tried to find a locksmith and it was going to be a drive, so I went to a local Honda dealer instead. $25 to cut, $50 to program the immobilized. Dealer staff were very curious on where/how to get it since Honda doesn't sell them. They said the standard Honda remote key has problems and that the switchblade key was a superior design.

Key was initially difficult to remove from the ignition. Problem turned out to be the "shoulders" of the key fob are broader than the regular key and were contacting the wear ring on the ignition preventing the key from rotating completely counterclockwise so it could be removed. As the key is rotated at this point it gets pulled into the ignition lock slightly, then comes back out. I solved this by lightly filing the shoulders down a few thou so that the fob shoulders were no longer contacting the plastic ring around the ignition. Key works fine now.

I like it. Using it on 2006 Honda Ridgeline.

4Good product with one issue
By Orlando Resident
Was able to program the door lock/unlock myself with the included instructions.

Had an automotive locksmith program the starter chip and cut the key blade.

Only issue I am having is the switchblade is not staying out, it folds back into the case with the weight of my other keys on my keyring when in the car ignition.
